We wrapped up a great week of learning in Language Arts! Students finalized and submitted their persuasive essays which they have been working on for the past few weeks. Students covered a variety of topics, including reforming the American public school system, calling for the disarmament of nuclear weapons worldwide, the greatest football and baseball players (current and all-time), and the importance of sleep, among other interesting and timely topics. On Tuesday, students took part in a fun escape the room trivia activity that reviewed reading comprehension techniques and skills learned throughout the year. Students also finished up their novel study of To Kill a Mockingbird.
Science & Healthy Living
This week in Healthy Living & Science we continued our discussions of health-related issues with eating disorders such as anorexia and Bulimia as well as further discussing how philosophy and science complement each other.
This week students finished their work through Code.org and Vidcode. Students impressed this year as they built upon their knowledge of programming concepts such as sequence, functions, function arguments, and properties. Students have now been exposed to object-oriented programming and have a solid foundation to take further computer science classes on.
